Ahmedabad: 29/11/2011 Teachers discourage students from cheating in examination, but the teacher in this case needs to go back to school to relearn ethics. Mehta and Gadhiya's shameful act however could be nipped when Mehta was caught red-handed in the act on Tuesday by a team of the GTU headed by exam coordinator MN Shah. Mehta was found busy sending text message from his cell phone to students during the 5th semester exam for the paper on Oriented Programming with Java.
At the exam centre GTU coordinator spotted the observer incharge leave the room and texting from his mobile phone soon after the question paper was released.

According to the GTU controller of the examination, GP Vadodaria, the college authorities have been directed to suspend both the errant teachers. "As per the guidance of GTU's vice chancellor, I have directed college authorities to suspend Mehta and Gadhiya. We have also informed the police about the incident," he said.
On Tuesday, Mehta had leaked questions worth 13 marks.
According to the information available, Mehta was deputed at the government engineering college at sector 28 in Gandhinagar as an observer. As per the procedure, the GTU authorities e-mailed the question paper to the college before 45 minutes. The teachers are provided with the password to access the question paper.
"As the question papers are xeroxed, Mehta read the questions and immediately smsed the details to four students and also to Gadhiya. However, the GTU officials were tipped off about the cheating and a team rushed to the college on Tuesday. It caught Mehta red-handed as he was busy typing questions in his cell to be sent to these students," said Vadodaria. Mehta admitted that in past too he helped students and a professor of Sabar college, Hasmukh Goswami, by leaking questions during ongoing exams.
Vadodaria said that it is not only matter of cheating but appointment of Mehta as computer teacher is also doubtful as he is pursuing ME from Balaji institute in Rajasthan and not qualified to take up the job. When authorities questioned Mehta, he said his act of leaking info to students was not aimed at earning money, but only to help them.Ankit was a diploma student of Nirma and BE from a college in Vidyanagar.
GTU Exam Controller G S Vadodaria said, “We have been receiving information that a few professors from self financed colleges have been leaking question papers to certain students. We heard that through SMS and other methods, they were favouring a few students. We even received a list of names which included a teacher from Alpha college, Nirav Gadia. Both of the teachers have been blacklisted. We have informed the trustee of Alpha engineering college to do the needful.”
A past incident in GTU when a subject of MBA exam was held and paper was set by a professor from Atmiya college, rajkot the paper was found to be the same as that of the mid-sem paper so GTU did not consider that exam and had taken the exam again after 3days of the completion of that exam....so it is possible that a reexam might be held in this case as well!
